Legacies of Pauline Oliveros
The Conservatory of Music of Brooklyn College, CUNY, hosts a symposium honoring the first anniversary of the passing of Pauline Oliveros, celebrating her pioneering practice and considering its place in the context of contemporary experimental music. Ethan will join British singer and soundscape artist Viv Corringham in a performance of Oliveros's Thirteen Changes for two voices, and will also present his research into the performance practice of the composer's Heart of Tones.

Sotto Voce: In barren lands, I linger bitter
Sotto Voce, a Buffalo-based vocal collective, will present an evening of music for voices by contemporary composers, centering around linguistic sounds—featuring texts in Hebrew, German, English, and babble. Program to feature works by Carola Bauckholt, Chaya Czernowin, Osnat Netzer, and will feature a movement of Ethan's Die Aufgabe des Übersetzers.

Buffalo State Interactive Synthesizer Orchestra: +/-
The Digital Music Production program at Buffalo State College presents "+/-" a program of music played by the Interactive Synthesizer Orchestra. Presenting works from the rich history of Fluxus and American Experimental music, the ensemble will explore new avenues of sound creation in pieces by George Brecht, Takehisa Kosugi, Gordon Mumma, Pauline Oliveros, and James Tenney.

Wooden Cities: Work
Wooden Cities presents a program on the themes of labor, justice and harvest. Played by a spirited nonet including percussion, synthesizer, winds, and strings, the program features Louis Andriessen's racous and resolute Workers Union and the crisp dynamism of Rzewski's Main Drag. The program will also feature traditional shape note and sacred harp music, a 17th century protest ballad, and Ethan's new solo oboe work, Violetear, played by Megan Kyle.

The Digital Music Production program at Buffalo State College presents "Reflections" a program of music played by the Digital Music Ensemble. Presenting works which explore the themes of repetition, refraction, and reflection, the ensemble will create labyrinthine sonic mirrors in performances of works by Timothy Georger, Philip Glass, Joseph Kudirka, and Hugh Shrapnel.
